Community and Fundraising Events Planned for 2019

  • A Concert by Taunton Male Voice Choir and Kingston St Mary Handbell Ringers on Saturday 19 January. Tickets available in December
  • Illustrated talk by Peter Triggs, including a light supper will be held in church on the evening of Friday 1 March. NEW
  • The Produce Stall (and coffee) held under the Lych Gate of St. John's Church has now finished for 2018.  Check back here for our 2019 dates.
  • Parish Breakfast will be held at Staplegrove Village Hall on 9th February from 8.30 am until 12 noon NEW
  • Monthly Soup lunches held at 12 noon on the fourth Tuesday of the month at Staplegrove Village Hall from October to March (not December). 
  • Monthly Tea and Chat held once a month on a Thursday in St John's Church from April until September (not August). Why not put these dates in your diary. You will be very welcome!

News from fundraising events


£400 was sent to the British Legion after Remembrance Weekend. This was from a donation from 'The Remembering Me' Concert given by the Somerset Opera Group on the 9th November, the sale of knitted poppies and the collection at the Service on 11th November at St. John's 



The Parish Breakfast held on 10 November and stalls (Hazel and Mike Hawkin's doll, the raffle, cake stall and Stafford carpets) raised £266. This was in aid of St. John's Church funds


The Autumn Produce/coffee morning held on 13 October at St John's Church in aid of the stained glass window for Staplegrove School raised £213


The Mother's Union Banner coffee morning held on 20th April at St. John's Church, raised £150


The Fairtrade Coffee Morning held at St. John's Church on Saturday 17th March raised almost £180


The weekly Produce Stall held between June and September 2018 raised £1,576.



The Strollers' raised over £55 for the 'Ride and Stride' Appeal at the Benefice Cricket Match on 2 September 2018
