Tea and Chat

    

Our programme of the Tea and Chat meetings runs from April until September

Tea and Chat will be held at 3 pm this year in Staplegrove Village Hall. The cost is £2

Why not join us to catch up with friends or make some new ones, or contact Lesley on 282239 if you are able to help either with cake and biscuits, serving refreshments or providing transport.

Home Fellowship Group

  • For several years a group has met fortnightly for an hour to look at the Bible Readings for the following Sunday. For a lead they have used Jane Williams’ (wife of the former Archbishop) useful guide. These meetings have been helpful, in that is has allowed the group to grow spiritually and in friendship. 
  • At present there are seven who meet in the group but there is room for more 
  • If you are interested, speak to Alison on 322170 you will be very welcome

Soup Lunch 

The soup lunches have now finished for the summer.  The programme of lunches for 2017/18 will commence on Tuesday 17 October in Staplegrove Village Hall.

Soup lunches will be held, between 12 noon and 2 pm on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, from October until March. (Cost £2).  ALL WELCOME

Helpers are also required to provide food/transport/service on the day.  Please contact us if you are available to help or need a lift.


Evergreens

  • The group was set up as a social gathering for the elderly. It meets on the second Tuesday afternoon of each month, usually at Staplegrove Village Hall
  • There are a range of speakers on a wide variety of subjects, together with a monthly raffle to provide funds. Members enjoy chatting over a cup of tea
  • On the fourth Tuesday of each month a coffee morning is held in members’ homes.
  • Due to the age of members of the group, mobility is an ever increasing problem, any offers of help with transport are greatly appreciated.

Mother's Union

The Mother's Union has a world-wide membership of over 4 million who work to provide Christian care for families in their local communities. 

The Staplegrove branch meet monthly usually in the church. In addition to regular meetings our branch supports the Neonatal unit at Musgrove Park Hospital, the Mission to Seafarers and other charities with knitting; organises Church Mice, a monthly children's activity based service in church; helps with Messy church activities and youth mission work.

Knitter's Group




























  • The knitters group, which was started by members of the Mothers' Union normally meets in St John's, Staplegrove on the last Thursday of every other month between 2-4 pm.  Please see below for venue during Reordering work
  • In spite of the lovely warm summer weather knitters have continued to produce a multitude of items, all of which have been carefully knitted with love and care.8 knitted toys have gone to the Women’s Refuge where one will be put on each bed as a child arrives.   What a comfort they will become!  Thank you.
  • 12 jumpers and cardigans have gone to RAFT for Syria and the camps in Europe. We have chosen various sizes and warm ones as they must have to endure many cold days and nights
  • A few hand selected jumpers have gone to families who attend the Food Bank.
  • The remaining jumpers will go to the Children’s Centres at Norton or Priorswood once the weather cools down a bit.Thank you to all who knit.  
  • Recently more wool has been donated.  We are grateful to you all.  Now we can give where there is a need
  • Why not come along to the next meeting, but if you cannot join the group and would prefer to knit at home the group have plenty of wool, patterns and needles for you to use (simple jumper pattern)

Staplegrove Trust

The Staplegrove Trust, operating in its present form since 1978, makes grants of money to persons in the area of benefit who are in need, hardship or distress. Since 2000  has been extended to include assistance to any other charitable purpose in the area of benefit. Click on the link for further information about the Trust.

All Staplegrovians aged 18 or over are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Trust which will be held in the Committee Room, Staplegrove Village Hall at 7.30 pm on 

Wednesday 11th October 2017

Reports regarding the Trust's recent activities will be presented and the committee will elect one trustee to serve for two years. If you would like to be nominated or wish to nominate someone (with their permission) please contact the Secretary on 351539
